And finally life can go back to normal!
And ahead of schedule too!
Mind you, there’s still another 10,000 or so left to write, but at least I can take my time over that. January sounds like a good eta to me
So, here I am, on the cusp of the downward straight to the finish line and I’m procrastinating. The heating hasn’t come on and I’m cooooold!
40,000 words down. 10,000 to go and the weekend is opening up before me as a time to get things done. In theory if I sat at it, I could meet the deadline by Sunday night. In reality, I’ll be thrilled with 47,000 words by Monday morning.
Someone remind me, why did I ever think this was a good idea?
I’d better get on with it.
Cue sounds of 100 monkeys at 100 typewriters tapping away like there’s no tomorrow!
20,000 words and counting. This cartoon struck a bit of a chord…
Well, it’s November, and as usually, I’m undergoing the massive caffeine intake otherwise known as NaNoWriMo. Another few days and I should be twitching nicely.
Despite the fact that it sometimes feels like torture, I actually enjoy this novelling in a month thing. I can fiddle around for days over a sentence, so its one way of actually getting the plot out there, and I can go back and do (a lot of) fine tuning later. It worked well with last year’s effort, but this year’s has a much more complex plot and main character, so it’s slightly slower going. Even about 5,000 words in, I’m not entirely sure that things are happening in the right order, but I don’t have time to fix it. That’s what December’s for.
So here I am, holed up in my study, typing away whilst the rest of the family rattles around me. A mere 45,000 words left to go!
